Senior Lighting Artist

First Contact Entertainment is seeking a well-rounded Senior Lighting Artist to join our Art Department. The ideal candidate has experience developing AAA titles, and has a passion for gaming with a focus on lighting character and environments. The ideal candidate will be able to show good examples of lighting made for games, preferably next generation consoles.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work closely with the Art Director and Lead Environment Artist to establish lighting concepts and implementation strategies for a variety of real-time environments

  • Created detailed lighting schemes that support each project's creative goals whilst meeting any necessary performance requirements

  • Build and implement rich lighting solutions across a wide variety of environments and situations, supporting each project's dramatic needs

  • Ability to work closely with other production artists and team members to build efficient implementations and approaches

  • Ability to research, analyze and gather reference for a variety of subject matters & genres

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills

 
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • 3+ years of experience creating high quality lighting for games and real time cinematics

  • Responsible for creating game-play and lighting based on direction from the Art Director

  • Ensure a high level of quality while maintaining a full production load

  • Ensure that lighting assets meet runtime and disk budgeting requirements

  • Anticipate, identify, and report any potential production problems and communicate those

  • Work collaboratively with other departments, especially Environment, Character, and VFX

  • Work in and maintain an efficient organization structure for all lighting assets

  • Stay current with industry lighting techniques

  • Proven collaborator for insource/outsource partners

  • Identify and set up best practices

  • Find relevant solutions to problems encountered in their work

  • Rapidly integrate strategic changes given by the Art Director

  • Keep open channels of communication across their team/collaborating studio/ outsource partner

  • Produce schedules alongside the Art Director/Producer

  • Identify risks within the schedule and suggest changes;

  • Delegate and assign work to team members using JIRA or other tracking tools used on the project

  • Manage the onboarding process for new members of their team

STAND OUT WITH BONUS FEATURES SUCH AS:
  • Experience with Maya or other equivalent 3D package

  • Experience creating materials using Substance Designer, 3D painting packages to paint models, and Photogrammetry

  • Research and develop experience for next generation game development
