Level Designer

First Contact Entertainment is looking for a talented, motivated, and experienced Level Designer who is looking to create innovative gameplay systems, fun over the top game-modes and visceral in-game moments for an exciting new project. This is a unique opportunity to join an award winning team tackling the challenges of creating the next generation of VR.

Starting from high-level design direction, you’ll work with other Designers and team members to create design documentation and assist prototype, iteration, and execution of a variety of system features. You are passionate about games and the craft of level design. You take initiative and find creative solutions to complex problems.


Qualified individuals are expected to be highly-organized and competent at working in a complex, multi-functional environment. They also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills that encourage positive collaboration. This person can shape creative and wide-ranging ideas into coherent designs and identify robust solutions to problems. Candidates must have passion for a broad range of game experiences, and be well versed in market trends and styles.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Designers and Artists build a compelling product roadmap

  • Create, manage and document high level designs for upcoming product features.

  • Participate in the development of the overall mission structure. 

  • Work daily to improve the quality of our single player and multiplayer experiences through playtest feedback.

  • Review features (and events) and provide insights on balance, structure, engagement and strategy.

  • Work with a pod of engineers, producers, and artists to execute those features.

  • Promote a design ethos that puts the player first, leading to engaging experiences with long-term engagement.

  • Work daily to improve the quality of our projects through play-sessions and feedback.


  • 2+ years of relevant, professional level design experience with at least one shipped title

  • Experience with Unreal 4/5 design production tools and level editing pipelines

  • Multiplayer game design sensibilities

  • Strong level design skills: Applicants must be able to intelligently discuss the strengths and weaknesses of recent games and be able to list techniques used to make fun FPS combat.

  • Ability to pitch level design concepts in a clear, detailed manner, through strong written and verbal skills.

  • Efficient at prioritizing to meet deadlines.

  • Communicate progress with the Leads and Directors well and frequently.

  • A positive, solution-oriented attitude and passion about the play experience, with a wealth of knowledge across a wide range of games.

  • Experience with live operated games
