Associate Technical Animator

First Contact is looking for an Associate Technical animator to join our Technical Animation Department. This is a unique opportunity to join a team of game industry experts tackling the challenges of creating innovative games which use software and hardware technologies in new ways. The ideal candidate has experience and passion for rigging, problem solver and a creative thinker.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain, evolve, and polish existing rigs and skins as Tech evolves

  • Process new assets

  • Work with Technical Art / Tools departments to help develop Rig Tools for streamlining Rigging processes

  • Utilize both proprietary and Maya tools and techniques to deliver highly-functional, dynamic and robust, game ready assets

  • Ongoing RnD toward improved rigging and deformation solutions and structured workflows in Maya

Required Experience

  • 1+ year as a professional Rigger (Games or Film)

  • Passionate about Rigging and comfortable with its nuances

  • Applicable knowledge of Maya’s tools for Rigging

  • Basic Maya animation skills

  • Proficient with Python / Mel scripting in Maya

  • Excited about the future of VR / Realtime

Stand out with bonus features

  • Working knowledge of Unreal systems related to Control Rig, Characters and Animation

  • Mocap pipeline experience

  • Enjoy keeping up with the latest industry techniques and experimenting with  implementing their own ideas
